Everybody eats. Its a fact. If you don’t, you’re dead. Since we’re talking about the living portion of the world, you eat. There are good foods for you and there are bad foods for you. Like the saying goes, don’t judge a book by its cover. Meaning that looks can be deceiving even when it comes to food. There are many boring foods listed by “reliable” sources that are said to be good or bad... Hello Doctor. However we got an opinion from those who eat according to their tongue and not their stomach and tongue. And not by the sterile, monotonous “doctors” in white jackets with gray hair and their nose in the air as if they know everything. So we are going to give you a list of foods that you love, as do we, that hate our bodies. Continuously eating these foods may one kill you through a domino effect. They are very unhealthy and eating unhealthy foods causes diabetes and obesity.
Chomp, chomp, chomp.
We eat food that appeals to our taste buds, some good, some bad. The types of food include cookies, whole milk, soda, potato chips, chicken nuggets, candy, baked goods, ice cream, (sugary) cereal, and sandwich crackers (faux cheese inside). These foods are also the top ten most unhealthy snacks for kids. Some kids love them and some kids think that they are unhealthy and very bad for you. The opinion, in real life, is diversified by the stereotype is that we all love them. We went looking for people that liked or disliked these foods and this is what we found out. Dulce Sanabria, a seventh grader at Stoller Middle School, said “I like all of these foods but I don’t eat them very often. Normally, I just eat them as a treat.” This is similar to what both of us often do. An anonymous person said “[She] doesn’t like them because they are unhealthy. Why would you eat something with lots of calories when you could eat something with less calories.” For those healthy kids out there here is your perfect food match, watch and know what you eat. Even some adults like these foods like Mrs. Clements, she said “I like a lot of those snacks but not all of them. I normally eat one once a day. I eat them because of physical addiction to sugar and I also like the taste.” As you can see a lot of kids like these foods and a lot of people think that they are unhealthy and bad for the body and don’t eat them.
Children today have the choice of eating healthy or not. But even when we think that it’s healthy it can be deceiving. So what do kids and adults do? They just choose the ones that taste good, on average, and then they don’t have to ponder if the food is healthy or not and figure out the pesky details about those foods. Well guess what? You should find out those pesky details. Take whole milk for example. As growing kids we need vitamins and calcium but whole milk is filled with saturated fat. Simply said, whole milk isn’t always the best way to go. Then there are cookies - don’t get us started on that! Cookies are loaded with ingredients that are bad for you if you eat them on a regular basis, for example there is waaay to much sugar and trans fat in them. We don’t need those but our body is chomping it up. Then there is the All-American potato chips! Those have more fats, oil, and salt in one serving than a kid needs in a day! And for those health nuts out there (not mocking you, it's a praise trust us) you can ruin it by one 12 oz. soft drink. Yeah, stay away from those. Trans fat contributes to obesity, heart disease and cancer. Chicken nuggets are also very unhealthy. Many parents think that a snack with chicken in it is healthy but they are actually one of the worst snacks. Candy mainly consists of fat and sugar and it is a common snack for snack for kids. Baked goods are full of trans fat and is also a very common snack in many households. Ice cream is full of fat and refined sugars that contribute to obesity. Sugary cereals target kids and have a lot of sugar and refined carbohydrates. Sandwich cracker contain cheese and/ or peanut butter, while these foods are thought of generally as healthy foods, the sandwich cracker is not good at all because of ingredients it contains. 200 calories filled with fat are typically carried in one package.
Food is what we need to survive but because of these bad foods there is a huge chance that they will be the reason to cause our death. We need to learn which foods are good for us and which foods are bad for us. When you’re at home try to incorporate the following foods; apples, almonds, broccoli, blueberries, oily fish, leafy green vegetables, sweet potatoes, wheat germ, avocados, and/or oatmeal. This way you have added one or more of the top ten healthiest foods. Our bodies need nourishment that provides energy and can enable us to take care of ourselves and others through the simple task of eating right. We eat to survive but we can eat to live. Just because something is bad doesn’t mean it isn’t bad if you can eat proportional amounts of those foods. This way you aren’t harming yourself but giving yourself a little present in each day. If you couple this with healthy foods you are eating right as well as eating yummy things. There are millions of recipes out there you can alter some things and make it your own to fit your personal tastes. But the point is to avoid harming yourself with certain foods that come in quantities that are not at all good for you, it’s truly harmful. There is a simple way to fix the problem in today’s world of obesity and that’s eating right and exercising but sometimes that message doesn’t come through because we don’t like the message. Incorporate good food with tasty food in quantities that are fine. Simple and it gives you what you want.
