Avengers
Avengers has broken almost every box office in europe and america in the past couple weeks. It has gotten over a billion dollars in sale, but critics have given it at best a mediocre review. In my opinion this is because it didn’t stand up to all the hype and talk about it. However other people think that it was for other reasons, but nobody seems to have it as their favorite movie. Most likely this is because it didn’t stand up to all the hype, there was bad acting, writing, or it was too cheesy.
I can see why someone would think that. The Avengers is about an ancient norse god who teams up with aliens to destroy earth. A team of superheroes who is controlled by a secret government agency has to try and stop them. The superheroes are another ancient norse god called Thor who can control storm and lightning, a genius who got blasted with gamma rays and now when he gets angry he turns into a giant green, near immortal, rage monster. Another genius who has a super suit that shoots plasma rays. Finally two master assassins who are called Raven and Black Widow. All whose main base is on a giant flying boat.

Many people who haven’t seen it want to see it but once they have seen it they are unimpressed. You  may ask why this is. Well when a company makes seven movies that all are meant to lead into final movie and spends over a million dollars in advertising people expect something that is amazing. From a survey I did I saw that people thought that it was good, not amazing but not bad either. Many people thought it was cheesy though.
While doing the survey there was a question that was universally answered the same. Nobody in a survey of twenty people thought that the Avengers was their favorite movie. It wasn’t mine, it didn’t even get in the top ten. People liked it but the movie wasn’t what people in generally liked. People liked movies with lots of action but there was no real passion or darkness in the movie. For example many people like The Debt, it had lots of action but it was dark, dramatic, passionate, and even had romance. All extremely popular movies have these characteristics. The two most watch movies since the beginning of time, Avatar and Titanic, had these but The Avengers was largely geared towards action. This made it interesting but it didn’t pull people in and keep them on the edges of their seats in tell it ended.
In conclusion, the avengers was a mediocre movie but nothing so amazing that it will become the most watched movie of all time. It is cheesy but there is enough action and explosion that it makes up for the terrible writing and the annoying catchphrases. I would recommend getting the Avengers at Redbox when it comes out, don’t waste your money on an movie that is only mediocre.
